Exercise 1: Meaning of Text and how to read:



1)
يزور الأولاد بيت الجدة.

Yazooru Al-awlaadu bait Al-Jaddah.

The children are visiting the Grandmother's house.



2)
بيت الجدة واسع وجميل

Bait Al-Jaddah waasiy' wa Jameel.

Grandmother's house is spacious and beautiful.



3)
في البيت حديقة ونافورة وأرجوحة.


Fil baiti Hadeeqah wa naafoorah wa arjoohah.

In the house there is a garden, and a fountain and a swing.



4)
في البيت لعب ، و حلوى وعصير.

Fil Baiti Lua'b wa Halwaa wa Aseer.

In the house there are toys, and candies (sweets) and juice.



5)
يذهب الأولاد إلى هناك يوم الأربعاء.

Yazhabu Al-awlaadu ilaa Hunaaka Yawm Al-arbiaa.

The children go there on Wednesday.



6)
يحبُّ الأولاد بيت الجدة.

Yuhibbu Al-awlaadu baiti Al-Jaddah.

The children like the Grandmother's house.

Exercise 4: New Method.

ماذا في هذه الكعكة؟

Maazaa fee haazihil-kaykah?

What is in this cake?

في هذه الكعكة بيض .

Fee haazihil-kaykah beedh.

There are eggs in this cake.



2)
ماذا في هذا الصندوق؟

Maazaa fee haazas-sandooq?

What is in this box?

في هذا الصندوق لعب .

Fee haazas-sandooq luab.

There are toys in this box.



3)
ماذا في هذه السلة؟

Maazaa fee haazihis-sallah?

What is in this basket?

في هذه السلة ملابس .

Fee haazihis-sallah malaabis?

There are clothes in this basket.



4)
ماذا في هذا الحوض؟

Maazaa fee haazal-haudh?

What is in this tank?

في هذا الحوض سمك.

Fee haazal-haudh Samak?

There are fishes in this tank.




Exercise - 6 


Listen and make out the difference between ( د ) and ( ض ):

If the given word depends on the sound of ( د ) then write ( د ) in the given box.

If the given word depends on the sound of ( ض ) then write ( ض ) in the given box.

كعكة الجزر 


Kay-kah al-jazar.

The carrot cake.

أمل تحب الحلوى.

Amal tuhibbu al-halwaa.

Amal likes sweets.


هي تشتري كتابا اسمه: كيف تصنعين طعاما لذيذا؟

Hiya thashtaree kithaaban, ismuhu: Kaifa tasnaéena that man lazeezan.

She bought a book named: how to cook tasty food?


أمل تفتح الكتاب وتقرأ: كعكة الجزر.

Amal Taftahu al-kitaab wa thaqrau: Kay-kah al-jazar.

Amal opens the book and reads: Carrot Cake.

ستصنع أمل كعكة لذيذة.

Sathasnaú Amal Kay-kah lazeezah.

Amal is going to make a tasty cake.

هي تحضر الدقيق والبيض والسكر والجزر والليمون.

Hiya thahduru ad-daqeeq wal-beedh was-sukkar wal-jazar wal-leimoon.

She brings the flour, and the eggs, and the sugar, and the carrots, and the lemon.

أمل تضع الكعكة في الفرن.

Amal thadau al-Kay-kah fil furn.

Amal puts the cake in the oven.

هي تنتظر قليلا و تفتح الفرن.

Hiya thanthaziru qaleelan wa thafthahu al-furn.

She waits a short while, and opens the oven.

تنظر أمل إلى الكعكة.

Thanzuru Amal ilaa al-Kay-kah.

Amal looks at the cake.

لون الكعكة أسود ، ورائحتها قبيحة.

Launul-Kay-kah aswad, wa raai-ha-thu-haa qabeehun.

The colour of the cake is black, and it smells awful.

أمل تجري إلى غرفتها وتغلق الباب.

Amal thajree ilaa ghurfathi-haa was thughliqul-baab.

Amal runs to her room and locks the door.

Read as: Bunduqiyah
Meaning: Gun



6)Arabic text: أرض
Read as: Ardh
Meaning: Earth or Floor




Exercise 9: Match the part of the sentence on the right with that on the left to form a complete sentences:




Completed sentences to fill in the blanks:

1) الجدة تجلس على الكرسي ليشاهد التلفزيون.

Al-jaddah thajlisu alaa al-kursiy li yushaahida al-thelifizioon.

The grandmother is sitting on the chair to watch television.

2) الولد يفتح الثلاجة ليشرب العصير.

Al-Waladu yafthahu as-sallaajah li-yashriba al-aseer.

The boy opens the refrigerator to drink the juice.

3) تجلس البنت أمام المائدة لتأكل الكعكة.

Thajlisu al-bint amaam al-maaidah li-thakula al-kay-kah.

The girl is sitting in front of the table to eat the cake.

4)الأم تقف أمام الشبّاك لتنظر إلى الحديقة.

Al-ummu thaqifu amaam Al-Shubbak lithanzura ilaa al-hadeeqah.

The mother is standing in front of the window to look at the garden.

What do you see in the picture:




أشاهد في الصورة ، الطبق  ، والشوكة ، والسكين ، والبطيخ و الخوخ   والبرتقال ، والموز ، والكعكة ، والحليب والعصير على الطاولة.

Ushaahidu fis-soorah ath-thabaq wash-shawqah was-sikkeen, wal-bith-theekh, wal-khookh wal burthaqaal wal-mooz wal-kay-kah wal-haleeb wal-aseer alath-thaavilah.

We see in the picture, the plate, and the fork, and the knife, and the sweet melon and the watermelon and the orange, and the banana, and the cake, and the milk and the juice on the table.
