Exercise 1:(Sentence - 1)
هذا فصل الربيع .Haazaa fasl ar-rabeeí .
This is spring season.
(Sentence - 2)
الحديقة جميلة الآن .
Al-Hadeeqah jameelah al-aan .
The garden is beautiful now.
(Sentence - 3)
يتسلق الأولاد الأشجار .
Yathasallaqu Al-awlaadu al-ashjaar.
The children are climbing the trees.
(Sentence - 4)
يجري الأولاد هنا و هناك .
Yajree Al-awlaadu hunaa wa Hunaaka.
The boys are running here and there.
ـ شُمَّ هذه الزهرة .
Shumma Haazihee Az-zahrah.
Smell this flower.
ـ رائحتها جميلة جدا .
Raai-hathu-haa jameelatun jiddan.
Its smell is very pleasant.
(Sentence - 5)
الجَوُّ معتدل الآن .Al-jaww mútadilun al-aan.
The climate is moderate now.
(Sentence - 6)
الطيور فوق الأشجار .
At-thuyooru fawqa al-ashjaar.
The birds are above the trees.

هي تُغَنّي .Hiya thughanni.
They are singing.

Exercise 3 : The story - The Giant (person) and the Garden:
(Paragraph - 1)
Haazihee hadeeqathul imlaaq.
This is the giant (person’s) garden.
Hiya hadeeqah waasia'h wa jameelah.
The garden is wide and beautiful.
Fil hadeeqah ashjaar kaseerah, hunaa shajarathu khookh, wa hunaaka shajaratu thuffah.
In the park there are many trees, here is a peach tree, and there is an apple tree.
Al-azhaar jameelah wath-thuyoor thughanni fawqal-ashjaar.
The flowers are beautiful and the birds sing over the trees.
(Paragraph - 2)
Saafar al-imlaaq ilaa baladin baeed.
The giant traveled to a far-off country.
Zahaba ilaa hunaaka li yazoora sadeeqihee.
He went there to visit his friend.
Makasa al-imlaaq sabaa' sanawaath maa' sadeeqihee,summa raja-a' ilaa baladihee wa hadeeqathi-hee
The giant stayed for seven years with his friend, and then returned to his country and his garden.
(Paragraph - 3)
وصل العملاق إلى حديقته.
Wasala al-imlaaq ilaa hadeeqathi-hee.
The giant arrived at his garden.
Wa shaahada al-awlaadu
And saw the boys
هم يتسلقون الأشجار
Hum yathasallaqoona al-ashjaar
(They were) climbing trees
ويقطعون الأزهار
Wa yaqthaoona al-azhaar,
and cutting flowers,
ويأكلون الخوخ
Wa ya-kuloona al-khookh,
and eating peaches,
ويجرون هنا وهناك.
Wa yajroona huna wa hunaaka
and running here and there.
(Paragraph - 4)
غضب العملاق وقال للأولاد: اخرجوا من هنا بسرعة.
The giant person got angry and told the boys: Get out of here quickly.
بنى العملاق سورا عاليا حول الحديقة.
The giant built a high wall around the park.
The boys are not coming now to the park.
They play in the village.
(Paragraph - 5)
Winter season was over and spring season came.
Trees are now green in the village,
والأزهار جميلة والطيور تغني فوق الأشجار.
The flowers are beautiful and the birds sing over the trees.
(Paragraph - 6)
نظر العملاق إلى حديقته وقال: أين الربيع؟
The giant person looked at his garden and said: Where is the spring?
Where are the green trees?
Where are the beautiful flowers?
Where are the birds?
In my garden there is only rain and snow.
(Paragraph - 7)
استيقظ العملاق في الصباح.
The giant woke up in the morning.
He heard the sound of a bird.
The bird sings in the garden.
The giant looked out the window.
Boys climbing trees and cutting flowers,
وياكلون ، ويجرون هنا وهناك .
And they eat and run here and there.
(Paragraph - 8)
فرح العملاق.The giant person got over joyed.
Trees in the park are green now,
والأزهار جميلة، والطيور تغني فوق الأشجار.
The flowers are beautiful, the birds are singing over the trees.
The giant said: Play, boys, eat peaches and apples.
This is your garden, and quickly went to the wall and broke it.
Exercise 4 : Mark the correct sentence with a tick mark and the wrong sentence with a X mark. (on Page 154) :
