Exercise 1

Translation of the text and Transliteration (how to read):

(Sentence - 1)


ِياسر في غرفتِه

Yasir fee ghurfati-hi.

Yasir is in his room.


(Sentence - 2)



هو يلبس ملابس المدرسة

Huwa Yalbisu Malaabis al-Madrasah.

He is wearing his school clothes.(uniform)




أين قلمي؟

Aina Qalmee?

Where is my pen?




قلمك على المكتب

Qalamuka ala al-maktab.

Your pen is on the table.



(Sentence - 3)


ياسر الآن في المطبخ

Yasir Al Aaan fil mathbakh.


Yasir is now in the kitchen.



(Sentence - 4)


هو يأكل بيضاً والخبزاً

Huwa yakulu baidan wa khubzan.

He is eating egg and  bread.




(Sentence - 5)


ياسر يشرب عصيراً

Yasir Yashrabu Aseeran

Yasir is drinking juice.





(Sentence - 6)


هو يركب الدرّاجة

Huwa yarkabu al-darrajah

He is riding the bicycle.


(Sentence - 7)


ياسر يذهب إلى المدرسة


Yasir yazhabu ilaa al-madrasah

Yasir is going to the school.


Exercise 2

New Words



New Words.
First we will learn two numbers (30 and 40):

1) Arabic Text: ثلاثون

Read as: Salaasoon (or Thalaathoon)

Meaning: Thirty


2) Arabic Text:أربعون

Read as: Arbaoon

Meaning: Forty


New words: 

1) Arabic Text: ساعة

Read as: Saa-ah

Meaning: (Wrist) Watch


2) Arabic Text:فراش


Read as: Firaash


Meaning: Mattress


3) Arabic Text: يصلي

Read as: Yu-salli


Meaning: He is Praying.


4) Arabic Text: يستيقظ


Read as: Yas-thai-khizu


Meaning: He is waking up.


5) Arabic Text:ترتب البنت الفراش


Read as: Thu-rath-thi-bu al-binthu al-Firaash


Meaning: The girl is preparing the Mattress.


6) Arabic Text:ينتظر الأستاذ السيارة


Read as: Yan-tha-ziru al-Usthaazu al-sayyarah.


Meaning: The teacher is waiting for the car.


7) Arabic Text:الساعة الواحدة


Read as: As-saa-athu al-waahidah.


Meaning: The time is 1'O Clock(One-O-Clock).


8) Arabic Text:الساعة السادسة


Read as: As-Saa-athu as-saadisah.


Meaning: The time is 6'O Clock (Six-O-Clock).



9) Arabic Text:يأكل الولد الفطور


Read as: Ya-Kulu al-waladu al-futhoor.


Meaning: The boy is having breakfast.


10) Arabic Text:غرفة طعام


Read as: Ghurfathu Tha-aam.


Meaning: Dining Room.



Exercise 3

Dialogue:

(Picture - 1)

Description of the picture: In this picture, you can see that Yasir(the boy) is in bed. His sister is awakening him.

Sister: 

Arabic Text:ياسر ... ياسر استيقظ 

Read As:Yasir....Yasir isthaiqiz.

Meaning:Yasir ....Yasir wake up.

Yasir: 

Arabic Text:  ...آه ......آه ....كمِ السّاعة الآن.

Read as: Aah......Aah....Kami  s-Saa-athil Aan.

Meaning:Oh ....oh .... What is the time now?



(Picture - 2)

Description of the picture: The sister is replying Yasir, while indicating towards their father.

Sister:

Arabic Text:

 السّاعة الآن السّادسة

استيقظ,أبي في غرفة الطعام.

Read As: As-saa-athu al-aan as-saadisah. Isthaiqiz, Abee fee ghurfathi-th tha'aam.

Meaning: The time now is six O'clock. Wake up, Father is now in the dining room.

Yasir: 

Arabic Text: (to be added later)

Read as:Sa-Wusalli wa Albasu malaabis al-madrasah.

Meaning:I shall pray and wear my school clothing (uniform)


(Picture - 3)

Description of the picture: The mother is asking Yasir if he has properly arranged the mattress. He is replying to her in this picture.

Mother: 

Arabic Text: (to be added later)

Read As:Hal rath-thab-ta firaashaka?

Meaning: Did you arrange your mattress properly?

Yasir: 

Arabic Text: (to be added later)

Read as:Na'am yaa um-mee.

Meaning:Yes my mother.



(Picture - 4)

Description of the picture: The mother shows him the breakfast placed on the table.

Mother: 

Arabic Text: (to be added later)

Read As: Haazaa fathooruka.

Meaning: This is your breakfast.


(Picture - 5)

Description of the picture: The father is found talking to Yasir  in this picture.

Father: 

Arabic Text: (to be added later)

Read As: Mathaa tharjioo alyawma min al-madrasah?

Meaning: When will you return today from school?

Yasir:

Arabic Text: (to be added later)

Read as: Fis Saa'athil Waahidah.

Meaning:At One O'clock.



(Picture - 6)

Description of the picture: The father continues talking to Yasir.

Father: 

Arabic Text: (to be added later)

Read As:Sa Anthaziruka amaam al-madrasah.

Meaning:I shall wait for you in front of the school.

Yasir:

Arabic Text: (to be added later)

Read as:Shukran yaa Abi.

Meaning: Thank you my father.

Exercise 4

New method:

(Example  - 1)

Question: كم السّاعة الآن؟

Read as: Kami - s-saa'thul Aan?

What is the time now?


Answer:   السّاعة الآن الواحدة

Read as: As-saa'thul Aan al-waahidah.

Meaning: The time now is 1'O clock.


(Example  - 2)



Question: كم السّاعة الآن؟

Read as: Kami - s-saa'thul Aan?

Meaning: What is the time now?



Answer:   السّاعة الآن الثانية   

Read as: As-saa'thul Aan as-saaniyah(or ath-thaaniyah)

Meaning: The time now is 2'O clock.





(Sentence - 3)



Question: كم السّاعة الآن؟

Read as: Kami - s-saa'thul Aan?

Meaning: What is the time now?


Answer:   السّاعة الآن الثالثة  

Read as: As-saa'thul Aan as-saalisah.(or ath-thaalithah).

Meaning: The time now is 3'O clock.

(Sentence - 4)




Question: كم السّاعة الآن؟

Read as: Kami - s-saa'thul Aan?

What is the time now?


Answer:   السّاعة الآن الرّابعة.  

Read as: As-saa'thul Aan ar-raabiah.

Meaning: The time now is 4'O clock.





(Sentence - 5)




Question: كم السّاعة الآن؟

Read as: Kami - s-saa'thul Aan?

What is the time now?


Answer:   السّاعة الآن الخامسة  

Read as: As-saa'thul Aan al-khaamisah.

Meaning: The time now is 5'O clock.





(Sentence - 6)





Question: كم السّاعة الآن؟

Read as: Kami - s-saa'thul Aan?

What is the time now?


Answer:   السّاعة الآن السادسة    

Read as: As-saa'thul Aan as-saadisah.  

Meaning: The time now is 6'O clock.

Exercise 9

Look at the picture and re-arrange the words to form sentences.

ترتّب - فرشها - أمل.

Answer:

أمل ترتّب فرشها

Amal turattibu farsha-haa

Amal is arranging her bed.

2)

نادر - إلى - يصل - الببت

Answer:

نادر يصل إلى الببت

Nadir Yasilu ilaa al-bait.

Nadir reached (to) home.

3)

المدرسة - فاطمة - إلى - يذهب

Answer:

فاطمة يذهب إلى المدرسة

Fathima yazhabu ilaa Al-Madrasah

Fathima went to the school.






Exercise 10




Fill the blanks using the pictures :

يستيقظ بدر في السّاعة السابعة.

Yasthaiqiz Badr fis-saáthis saabiáh.

Badr woke up at seven o' clock.






2)
بدر يلبس ملابس المدرسة . بدر يرتّب فراشه

Badr yalbisu malaabis al-mad-rasah.

Badr yurattibu firaashahu.

Badr arranged his bed.

يذهب بدر إلى المطبخ. ثمّ يأكل السمك.

يذهب بدر إلى المدرسة في السّاعة الثامنة

Yazhabu Badr ilaa Al-Madrasah fis

Badr went to the school at eight O' clock.

Draw the hands of the clock in the pictures

Exercise 12


What do yo do everyday? Look at the pictures and the time (given beside) and recall what you do:

Asbahu fee as-saáthis saalisah

I swim at three o'clock.

أذهب إلى المدرسة في الساعة التاسعة

Azhabu ilaa Al-Madrasah fee
